Fourteen new lights are set to be installed shortly on the new stretch of footpath on the Rock Road in Blackrock.
Local Councillor Maria Doyle took to Facebook yesterday to ensure local residents and other interested parties that Louth County Council would be providing additional lighting for the area.
She said: “I’ve had several messages enquiring about new lighting which Blackrock Tidy Towns and I asked Louth County Council to be included as part of the first phase of our footpath project.
“I’m happy to report that there will be 14 new lights installed shortly.
“They will provide much needed additional lighting in the area, especially now that winter is here,” said Cllr Doyle, who went on to thank the council for their ongoing support.
Last week it emerged that Blackrock was set to receive a further €100,000 under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme to extend the new stretch of footpath on the Rock Road. This next phase will see a footpath constructed from Sandy Lane to Elm Park with safe crossing points to be installed as appropriate.
