This year’s annual Creative Spark Artist in Residence exhibition will be officially opened by Tracy Fahey this evening.
Entitled ‘Beneath the Surface’, the event is Creative Spark’s fifth residency programme exhibition at An Táin Arts Centre.
The launch takes place at 7pm with the exhibition showcasubg new works completed by five artists during their residencies at Creative Spark during 2018 and 2019.
David Callan (Louth); Alistair Livingstone (Down); Anthony Corrigan (Louth); Antonia Pina (Chile) and Ilaria Demonti (Italy) created a varied body of work, working in different media including printmaking, animation, mixed media and painting.
The residency programme at Creative Spark was established to support artists through offering studio space, research time, resources and creative opportunities they may not otherwise have in their own studio or practice. To date the Creative Spark residency has supported 29 artists over six years.
The exhibition is being opened this evening at 7pm by Tracy Fahey, Head of Department in Fine Art and Head of Centre of Postgraduate Studies in Limerick School of Art and Design.
Originally from Knockbridge, Tracy studied History of Art and English Literature at UCD, and worked in the National Gallery of Ireland and the Hugh Lane Gallery before getting involved in creative education. She was Head of Design in Griffith College Dublin, President of the Institute of Design in Ireland and Head of Humanities at IT Carlow before going to Limerick, where she is Head of Fine Art and Head of Postgraduate Studies in LSAD.
Members of the Creative Spark Print Studio will also be showing work in a supporting exhibition in the gallery at the same time.
The exhibition runs until Saturday November 2nd and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
