Cream of Irish country music to appear at this year’s Carlingford Oyster Festival

The Cream of Irish Country Music will appear at this year’s Carlingford Oyster Festival this August, with an extra day added to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this now legendary Festival.

The event was officially launched on Friday. This year the Festival, which runs from Thursday 8th – Monday 12th August, will feature a Country Music feel with Michael English, Mike Denver and Derek Ryan performing at the Oyster Festival as well as world famous Irish groups The Fureys and Bagatelle.

Tickets for the festival shows are available in single day packages as well as 2, 3 and 4 day packages with ‘Mix & Match’ options available.

Derek Ryan, Michael English and Bagatelle band members were taking in the Carlingford atmosphere at a launch event in the picturesque village over the weekend along with numerous festival sponsors who have played a hand in helping make the line up for this 40th celebration the best yet!

Ger Long of the Carlingford Oyster Festival committee said there is a great buzz to make this now five day Festival of Country and Irish Music a success.

“We’re thrilled to be able to add an extra day to the Festival and to add that little bit of Country to the five day already packed programme. We are now known for bringing top class performers to the Carlingford Oyster Festival and this year promises to be our best yet.

“It’s great to have Michael English, Derek Ryan and Bagatelle with us here today to celebrate the launch of our programme. We have a feeling that tickets will sell out quickly so we just urge people to get their tickets as soon as possible from www.carlingfordoysterfestival.com.”

Along with music, there is a packed schedule of events planned for the 5 days including the Morgan’s Fine Fish Oyster Pearl Competition. Current Oyster Pearl Bronagh Quinn was unavoidably absent from the Festival launch as she is competing in the World Irish Dancing Championships.

There will also be numerous events throughout the village suitable for all the family including street entertainment, face painting, Lough’s Agency Touch Tank, PHIL’S Petting Farm, the big dig and much more.

Also this year is the first ever Festival Raffle with 10 fantastic prizes on offer – the top prize of which is a week for two people at a Country & Irish Music event in Portugal with the Famous Paul Claffey Music Tours.

Some of the proceeds of this festival raffle will go towards helping some local community groups.
