Dundalk FC crashed to their second successive defeat after going down 2-1 away to Sligo Rovers in The Showgrounds last night.
Following on from the previous week’s loss to St Patrick’s Athletic, it means Vinny Perth’s side now sit 13 points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers, albeit with two games to spare.
The visitors made the worst possible start when they fell behind to a Romeo Parkes goal inside the opening 30 seconds.
Pat Hoban did throw Dundalk a lifeline when he equalised from the penalty spot but four minutes before half-time the home side restored their lead when Dante Leverock hit the net from a corner.
Despite changing things up in the second half Dundalk could find no way through for an equaliser. They will now try to bounce back when they host second placed Bohemian FC in Oriel Park on Monday.
