Man rescued from Cooley Mountains expected to make a full recovery

A paraglider who got into difficulty in the Cooley Mountains at the weekend is expected to make a full recovery.

Irish Coastguard helicopter Rescue 116 was called to Slieve Foye to rescue the 34-year-old man. They were called to the scene at 12.31pm along with coast guard units from Greenore and Drogheda.

The incident occurred at 480m on the steep southern slopes, 300m south of the summit. The crew were on the mountain for over an hour while the injured party was attended to.

He was then taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he is expected to make a full recovery.
