Guiney’s have opened their doors in Dundalk.
The store is now open for business in the former Dearey’s premises at 31/32 Clanbrassil Street having opened their doors at 9.30am this morning.
The department store’s arrival in town has been heavily anticipated since Talk of the Town revealed last April that they were opening in the town centre.
While trading has begun, it is understood an official opening will take place soon. The store is open until 8pm tonight for anyone who fancies a browse around.
This is Guiney’s 11th Irish store and a huge boost to the town centre which has never really recovered from the closure of Dearey’s after 83 years in business back in August 2005.
Guiney’s are best known for their iconic department store on Dublin’s Talbot Street. The store specialises in homewares, menswear, womenswear and children’s clothing and also has branches in North Earl Street in Dublin, Limerick, Waterford, Castlebar, Tralee, Cork, Clonmel, Mullingar and Kilkenny.
