There were just 12 new cars sold in Co Louth last month.
That’s according to the latest figures from SIMI, which show sales were down 36.84% from the 19 sold in November 2017.
The figures are indicative for the time of year as potential car buyers hold off for 191 sales.
No car sold more than one model last month with the purchases including a Toyota C-HR, Peugeot 2008, Toyota Auris, Kia Ceed, Volkswagen Passat Saloon, Nissan Qashqai, Seat Ibiza, Honda HR-V, Suzuki Ignis, Volkswagen Polo, Citroen Grand C4 Picasso and Lexus NX
New car sales for 2018 already surpassed their 2017 total in October. November’s sales mean there have now been 2,792 new cars sold so far this year compared with 2,774 in the whole of last year.
Despite the slight drop in sales in November compared to the same month last year 182 sales also remain slightly ahead of 172 sales with 850 so far in the second half of this year compared to 841 in the latter five months of last year.
Nissan, with 336 sales, is the biggest selling make so far this year followed by Toyota (298), Ford (280), Renault (241) and Volkswagen (237).
The Nissan Qashqai is the best-selling model so far this year with 130 sales. This is followed by the Ford Focus (100), Hyundai Tucson (93), Toyota Yaris (89) and Peugeot 3008 (83).
There were 1,943 new 181 cars sold in the Wee County between January 1st and June 30th. This was marginally ahead of 2017 when there were 1,930 171s sold.
Last year there were 2,774 cars sold in Co Louth, which was down 12.02% on 2016.
